“How did it get so late so soon?

 It’s night before it’s afternoon.

December is here before it’s June.

My goodness how the time has flewn.

How did it get so late so soon?”

― Dr. Seuss

Time really, really flies, doesn’t it? And have you noticed how easy it is to go off track?

When we’re so busy and caught up in everything we are doing, it’s important to continually reflect, and recalibrate, to make sure we are chasing the right prize. When the pressure to get it all done is too much, when you don’t dedicate enough for yourself, sooner of later you won’t have the strength and energy to be successful in work or in life.

In fact, the biggest challenge of high-performing leaders of growing companies is being so caught up in the prize of achievement that they forget about the prize of enjoyment. And I’m guilty of this, too.

Over the last 18 months I’ve done a lot of reflection on this (as I’ve been writing a new book designed to help achievement-oriented leaders get better and stronger), and see the biggest risk is that they forget about the enjoyment. These leaders do incredible things in many areas, they don’t do enough of what they truly enjoy to refuel. As a result, they hit the wall and start to slip backwards.

A great personal life is an achievement, too.

So, this year, I’ve revised the annual personal planning tool to help you to channel your passion and drive to achieve and enjoy your work, your life and your self.

“Follow effective action with quiet reflection.

From the quiet reflection will come even more effective action.”

– Peter Drucker
